This week we will be sharing some updates regarding the phased reopen; we will also be sharing one quote from an Anderson student and two short stories, hope you enjoy them.
Phased Reopen
Since our communication regarding the phased reopen a few weeks back, we have been planning to bring some students back for the hands-on components of their training.
If you do not require hands-on training at this moment, please ignore the following as you will continue studying from home until your progress into the hands-on modules.
If you are scheduled to return, you would have received an email from your campus; please reply to this email if you believe you should return but have not received the email, we will be happy to connect you with your campus.
As ever, your health and safety are our top priority, followed by ensuring that you can complete your studies as soon as possible. Anderson will be providing all necessary personal protective equipment when you are on campus, we will also be following and enforcing extremely strict processes.
Before you return to your campus, we will need to receive signed copies of the following documents, it is extremely important that you read them thoroughly before signing.
1. Document 301: Student Pre-screen
2. Document 302: Infection Control Policy
3. Document 303: COVID Hand Washing Policy
4. Document 304: Environmental Cleaning Policy & Procedures
These documents will be signed electronically, so please pay attention to your incoming emails as you will soon be receiving them from your Campus Director.
On the first day upon your return, we will be providing training on all the new processes and how to protect yourself on and off-campus. Please contact us if you have any questions after reviewing the documents and we look forward to welcoming you back.
Once again, the above does not apply to you if you do not need to return to the campus for your hands-on training.
Life is beautiful – a quote from our student Rosie
We wanted to share with you a lovely quote from our student Rosie at the North York campus. Thank you for your lovely words, Rosie!
“Without any warning or permission, COVID-19 has devastated humankind. Let’s not forget that life, a gift from God, is truly beautiful. We WILL overcome and defeat COVID-19, we WILL keep moving forward, and soon we WILL be living our life fully and normally.” – Rosie G., a student from our North York Campus
Find Happiness
Once a group of 50 people were attending a seminar. Suddenly the speaker stopped and decided to do a group activity. He started giving each attendee one balloon. Each one was asked to write his/her name on it using a marker pen. Then all the balloons were collected and put in another room.
Now, these delegates were let into that room and asked to find the balloon which had their name written within 5 minutes. Everyone was frantically searching for their name, colliding with each other, pushing around others and there was utter chaos.
At the end of 5 minutes, no one could find their own balloon. Now each one was asked to randomly collect a balloon and give it to the person whose name was written on it. Within minutes everyone had their own balloon.
The speaker then began, “This is happening in our lives. Everyone is frantically looking for happiness all around, not knowing where it is. Our happiness lies in the happiness of other people. Give them their happiness; you will get your own happiness. And this is the purpose of human life…the pursuit of happiness.”
Building Your House
An elderly carpenter was ready to retire. He told his employer-contractor of his plans to leave the house-building business to live a more leisurely life with his wife and enjoy his extended family. He would miss the paycheck each week, but he wanted to retire. They could get by.
The contractor was sorry to see his good worker go & asked if he could build just one more house as a personal favour. The carpenter said yes, but over time it was easy to see that his heart was not in his work. He resorted to shoddy workmanship and used inferior materials. It was an unfortunate way to end a dedicated career.
When the carpenter finished his work, his employer came to inspect the house. Then he handed the front-door key to the carpenter and said, “This is your house… my gift to you.”
The carpenter was shocked!
What a shame! If he had only known he was building his own house, he would have done it all so differently.
So it is with us. We build our lives, a day at a time, often putting less than our best into the building. Then, with a shock, we realize we have to live in the house we have built. If we could do it over, we would do it much differently.
But, you cannot go back. You are the carpenter, and every day you hammer a nail, place a board, or erect a wall. Someone once said, “Life is a do-it-yourself project.” Your attitude, and the choices you make today, help build the “house” you will live in tomorrow. Therefore, Build wisely!
Sincerely,
The Anderson College Team
