What You Need to Know in 30 Seconds
The Medical Laboratory Technology Diploma at Anderson College is a 2-year, full-time hybrid program with 940 practicum hours across Ontario clinical sites. The program is EQual-accredited (Accreditation Canada), ensuring graduate eligibility for the CAMLPR (Canadian Alliance of Medical Laboratory Professionals Regulators) certification examinations and registration with the College of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Ontario (CMLTO).
The curriculum covers medical terminology, ethics and professional issues, laboratory safety, infection control, WHMIS, Laboratory Information Systems (LIS), human anatomy and physiology, spectrophotometry, microscopy, electrophoresis, chromatography, quality control, specimen handling, biomolecules, enzymes, electrolytes, cardiac markers, toxicology, hematology (blood cell development, morphology, hemostasis), microbiology (culture, isolation, identification, antimicrobial susceptibility testing), transfusion medicine (ABO, Rh, pre-transfusion testing, transfusion reactions), histotechnology (tissue processing, embedding, microtomy, staining), and molecular diagnostics (DNA extraction, PCR, sequencing). Students also complete Standard First Aid and CPR.
Classes are led by instructors with medical laboratory expertise, backed by Anderson's 140+ year commitment to student success and alumni-network access. Career services — resume building, interview preparation, and job-fair access — are available for life. Admissions Readiness Hub
Ontario Secondary School Diploma or equivalent with:
- Grade 11 Math or Grade 12 Applied Math, C or U level
- Grade 11 Science (Chemistry, Biology, or Physics), C or U level
- Grade 12 English, C or U level
OR mature applicants must have completed secondary school with one Science, Math and English for College and/or University level or equivalent, and pass the Anderson College Pre-Health/Med program. Foreign-trained individuals must have their credentials assessed by WES or ICES.
OR students who have completed an accredited MLA/T program and have completed certification with CSMLS and certification with the provincial body where applicable, such as MLPAO or BCSLS.
Students completing the English requirement at a high school in a country other than Canada and who have English as a second language must complete an acceptable English assessment: TOEFL (Graduate Certificate: 580 for the paper-based test, 237 for the computer-based test, or 88+ minimum for the Internet-based test) or equivalent testing.
Profession Specific Aptitude
Applicants will be assessed on their capacity to understand and follow directions. The assessment may include questions related to reading comprehension, math, science, career awareness, and reasoning-type questions, or scenarios related to interpersonal interactions.
Academically qualified candidates will be interviewed by the Program Chair as part of the selection process.

Admission is granted to eligible applicants in order of application, first-come, first-served.
