Anderson Graduate Offers One-Stop Immigration Consultancy Services for Newcomers

David is one of those inspiring international students who arrives at Anderson College with a vision to build a thriving life in Canada, applies passion and perseverance to achieve each goal and leaves our Anderson team feeling deeply privileged to have been even a small part of the journey.
David initially arrived in Canada with a wealth of international knowledge and experience, took our Immigration Consultant program and has leveraged those credentials to create a Canadian business, Palladium Immigration Consultancy (Palladium). He and his equally talented wife Jackie now serve and support newcomers as they pursue their Canadian dreams.
David’s accomplishments are admirable, and we’re thrilled he’s come full circle to support international students, like he once was, at Anderson College. Our recent conversation with David and Jackie gives an overview of the wide array of expertise they bring to clients and precisely what services Palladium offers. As well, David offers terrific advice for international students looking to build a career and a life here in Canada.
A Foundation of Expertise
David’s background lays the foundation for the rich and varied insight and guidance he can offer clients. We asked him to share a little of what brought him to here.
“I started as a chemical engineer and went to school in France, so I speak English, French, and Mandarin Chinese. … As a family, we emigrated to Canada in 2018. I was working in technical sales but decided to take a step further on my career path and went to Anderson College for the Immigration Consultant program. I got my diploma in June 2021. Shortly thereafter, I took the entry-to-practice exam, passed and then, as I was eligible to apply*, I got my Regulated Canadian Immigration Consultant (RCIC) license.
“Over the years we also established The Association of Translators and Interpreters of Ontario (ATIO) certified translation services. While we offer myriad services to newcomers, we’re now adding an education component, and here I find myself coming full circle, back to Anderson College.”
Jackie, David’s wife and business partner, has an equally extensive background of experience to assist her in supporting clients.
“Similar to David, I studied abroad in the United States when I was 18. I will say as an international student, the first two years were not easy. It took a lot of time to adjust to the new environment without any family members around. In this, I understand firsthand what newcomers face.
“After receiving my Bachelor of Science, and furthering my studies in international business [in the U.S.] … I went back to China to work as an international business development manager in my family’s businesses. David and I then decided it was time to think about our children’s future and where the best place for them to receive an education would be; Canada was at the top of our list.
“In order to come here, I pursued the Rotman MBA program at the University of Toronto (UofT). I ran several student co-ops, was president of the Rotman Business Asia Association and ran events for students. I also did an internship at the University of Hatchery, an engineering school incubator, as a project manager. Our goal was to help UofT students start their own businesses. While I was studying at Rotman, I also got my real estate license.”
What Palladium Immigration Consultancy Offers
Palladium Immigration Consultancy, a federally licensed company, and the leaders at the helm, truly are a one-stop support system for what newcomers need to establish to thrive in Canada.
David started on his own, initially partnered with law firms so he could learn by case studies, such as removal orders for refugees, and the refusal and appeal process. Now, with his educational background, and Jackie’s, their firsthand experience and having a certified translator, what Palladium offers newcomers is vast and growing.
Opportunities for Newcomers
“Since we immigrated here on our own, we’re familiar with Express Entry and the Provincial Nominee Program. We have partnerships with employers who are looking for competent students and new graduates they can hire.
“We help clients address the Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA), the document that an employer in Canada may need to get before hiring a foreign worker; a positive LMIA shows that there is a need for a foreign worker to fill the job. We’ve established some LMIA sponsorship opportunities.
“In my dealing with family reunions and sponsorships and Jackie having worked for the UofT Hatchery and Rotman, we have connections with NGO investors.
“We are aligned with Start Up Visa (SUV) and have some SUV opportunities.
“We also help people with great talents in either artificial intelligence or medical fields; if they have ideas, we can help them create their own company and come to Canada.
“And, and of course, we deal with students, helping them acquire study permits and visas for their family members, and so much more.”
Settlement Services
“With Jackie as a realtor, we also offer new immigrants settlement services. For example, if they want to rent a place, purchase or even if they want to move their family or want to settle in the Greater Toronto area or in Vancouver, we have partners who can assist us and them in all of this process.
“As we say, it’s a one-stop service for newcomers.”
Education Services
With David and Jackie having spent time pursing degrees and working within educational systems in various countries, they have a unique understanding and expertise in dealing with schools and international students.
“We recently added the education service component to our business, and I’m thrilled that we’ve partnered with Anderson College. As my school, I understand the programs. My experience at Anderson was exceptional; the staff were really helpful. We were provided with options, between whether we wanted to find a job, to start a business or to try to create our own consultancy or company. It was a great program and college and I want to promote Anderson and the various programs with our clients.
“I know firsthand that international students attending Anderson will have a rewarding experience that will create a foundation for their future.”
David’s Advice for International Students
David is a wealth of information and insight for those exploring their options in Canada. As an Anderson graduate, he can relate to international students and is an example of one who arrived with a goal, leveraged his Anderson education, launched a successful business, and has established a wonderful life in this country.
“I would say before getting into any specific program, you should consider the most important question, ‘What will allow me to find a job, a better career?’. If you want to survive in Canada in this economy, you must find a job in a field or market where there is a shortage, one that provides you with an opportunity to become employed, quickly.
“Second, as an international student or newcomer in Canada, if you want to settle here from a legal point of view, you want to find a program that is suitable for your immigration afterwards. You have to establish a career in an in-demand field, and then with that job your chances of immigrating to Canada are exponentially increased. And when you’re here, we can also help you get settled into a place you can call home.”
____________
David’s journey from international professional to international student at Anderson College and now entrepreneur giving back to those, like he was, just starting out in Canada, is amazing to behold. It reminds us of precisely why we do what we do. We so look forward to what will come of the relationship between Anderon College and Palladium Immigration Consultancy, working together with both David and Jackie to support those international students looking to establish a thriving career and life in Canada.
