March is a time for celebration indeed. Not only is there a hint that spring may be finding its way, but it’s the month of honouring women with Women’s History month and International Women’s Day, and of luck, leprechauns and St. Patrick. In it all we are reminded of the values of strength, courage and compassion in vision and soulful leadership, of community, of being present and appreciative of the moments and life that we’re in, together.
Our March Connect encourages you to see the wonder in this season, to honour the women you either are or have loved and those who love you, and offers an Irish blessing to go with … “May your troubles be less and your blessings be more. And nothing but happiness come through your door.”
Enjoy!

A Thought to Ponder
“What’s Irish and stays out all night? Paddy O’Lantern!” Hee Hee
Of all the things the Irish bring to our lives and our communities in Canada, laughter and comradery, are those that hit home and encourage us all to sprinkle a little more luck o’ the Irish in our lives. This month take some time to gather with those you love, sip tea, raise a glass, say a blessing, tell a joke. Laughter is by far the best medicine we know, and we can all use a little more now and always.
A Short Story to Inspire
Hope and the Healing Flower
Once upon a time, in the mist-covered hills of Ireland, there lived a young woman named Saoirse. Her name, meaning “freedom,” was a fitting one. Saoirse was a skilled healer who spent her days roaming the wild forests and meadows, gathering herbs, and listening to the whispers of the wind.
One early morning, Saoirse set out to find a rare flower known only to bloom once every seven years. It was said that this flower could heal any wound, and Saoirse knew it only grew deep within the heart of the woods.
As she wandered on, the paths grew narrower, and shadows longer. The forest seemed alive, but also mysterious, as though it was testing her courage. Hours passed, and just when her feet grew tired, Saoirse noticed something strange. A small fox appeared.
“Are you lost, dear fox?” Saoirse asked, her voice gentle.
The fox cocked its head and darted into the trees, pausing to look back at her, as if beckoning her to follow.
With a heart full of hope, Saoirse did. After what seemed like an eternity, she finally reached a clearing where the rare flower grew, bathed in soft, golden light. But as she reached out to pick it, she noticed a dark figure emerging from the shadows.
A woman, cloaked in black, stood before her. “That flower is mine,” she said coldly.
Saoirse stood tall, unafraid. “The forest has brought me here and it will decide who is worthy.”
The dark woman smirked. “You think the forest favours you? It only favours those with power.”
Saoirse stepped forward; her eyes locked on the flower. “The forest favours those who understand the power of quiet wisdom, humility and courage, not in those who seek power,” she said softly, her voice carrying the strength of a thousand winds.
In that moment, the dark figure disappeared, vanishing into the forest. The flower glowed brighter, and Saoirse picked it gently, knowing it was a gift not only of the land but for her own courage and heart.
When Saoirse returned to her village, she used the flower’s magic to heal the sick, the wounded, and the weary and she never forgot the lesson of that extraordinary day.
Moral: True strength comes from harmony with nature and the courage to believe in our own soulful wisdom and abilities.
A Takeaway for You:
While this is a story of a courageous woman, who faces her fears and follows her intuition to achieve her goal, there is a lesson in this reflection for us all. The qualities often attributed to women, the ability to blend kindness and nurturing with fearlessness and courageous action are available within each of us, no matter our gender, background, beliefs or culture. See these qualities within yourself, celebrate them in the women, and the people who have, and do, inspire you.
