As a Cardiology Technologist, you will assist physicians by using various procedures and equipment to monitor, diagnose and treat cardiac arrhythmias, heart, and blood vessel disorders. Detecting heart disease and other cardiac pathologies involves a team of healthcare professionals, of which the Cardiology Technologist is a key player.

You are expected to be dependable, empathetic, a good communicator and be able to think critically on the spot. These qualities will put patients at ease and allow you, as the Cardiology Technologist, to accomplish the task as efficiently and effectively as possible.

From classroom to life:

  • Gain real-time knowledge and best-practices onsite from our industry-expert instructors and offsite through a practicum with hospitals and cardiac clinics.
  • Work within our fully equipped cardiology laboratory.
  • Get hands-on training in non-invasive diagnostic cardiology procedures such as electrocardiograms, Holter monitoring, exercise tolerance testing.

  • Exceed industry standards for theoretical knowledge and practical skill sets.
  • Challenge and surpass expectations on the Canadian Society of Cardiology Technologists National Occupational Competency Profile Exam and qualify for CSCT and provincial membership.
  • Secure employment as an entry level cardiology technologist.

Step 1

Academic Admission Requirements

To apply for this program, your first step is to submit the following documents:

  • Ontario Secondary School Diploma or equivalent with senior level College (C) / University (U) level courses:
    • English
    • Mathematics
    • Physics OR Chemistry OR Biology (preferred)
  • Foreign education credentials must be evaluated in a course-by-course format.
Step 2

English Requirements

Applicants whose first language is not English will be required to demonstrate English proficiency in one of the following ways:

  • A Grade 11 or 12 University Stream English credit (or equivalent) with at least four recent years of full-time study in an educational institution where the language of instruction and of examinations was English and which was located in a country where the first language is English, OR
  • Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) test with a minimum score of 83 for the Internet-based test (iBT) — 20 writing, 20 speaking, 19 reading and 24 listening, OR
  • International English Language Testing System (IELTS) Academic minimum test score of writing 6.0, Speaking 6.5, Listening 7.5 and Reading 6.5, OR
  • Canadian Academic English Language (CAEL) test with a score of 70 in writing, reading and speaking and a score of 80 in listening, with test results within the last two years, OR
  • Pearson Test of English Academic (PTE) with a minimum score of 60, with test results within the last two years, OR
  • Equivalent English testing from a comparable organization.

Candidates are also required to complete and pass the following:

  • The Anderson College Profession Specific Aptitude Test

Important Things to Consider

  • This is a full-time program offered onsite at our North York Campus only.
  • This is a hands-on program and students are required to practice with each other.
  • It is challenging to pass the program requirements if working full-time or part-time.
  • Students are required to be fully immunized prior to starting their placement.
