With a diploma in Law Enforcement and Police Foundations, you have the ability to pursue a career in various areas of law enforcement.

The program is 42 weeks, including a 4-week practicum with on-the-job training, offsite with potential employers. It is a joint initiative between the Police Learning System Advisory Committee and the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities to establish minimum entrance standards for police services in Ontario. It is designed to prepare you for your testing and application processes in law enforcement, special constable, customs and immigration, security and private investigations, court security or fraud departments.
You will gain combined practical and theoretical knowledge, empowering you to build confidence within various areas of law enforcement work, ensuring you’re ready to perform the extra requirements necessary for each job application The program covers firearms and self-defence training, current laws, investigative techniques, criminal proceedings, conflict resolution techniques, and community policing principles. You also receive the support required to prepare for the standardized police examination.

Roger’s experience in general policing spans more than two decades and a variety of assignments, including uniform, plain clothes, and undercover operations. Roger’s extensive career included stints on the beat, vehicle patrol, with the youth division, and as a bicycle police officer.
Roger graduated from the Atlantic Police Academy in 1978, later studying Political Science at the University of New Brunswick while working as a police officer. Roger also holds a master’s degree in Public Relations from Stirling University, Scotland.

Peter’s experience in policing spans four decades and uniform, administrative and undercover roles. During his career he served as a Detective/Sergeant assigned to various teams in the Major Crimes Unit, including Major Fraud, Homicide, Child Abuse, Labour Relations, Traditional Organized Crime and Gang Units, and was also a member of the Employee Assistance Program counselling team. Later, he was appointed to Officer in Charge of the Regional Police Coroners’ Office, a role he occupied for 12 years. Peter has been involved in multiple community initiatives, serving as Board Chair of the Suicide Prevention Community Council of Hamilton, and a cabinet member for the Children’s Aid Society of Hamilton.
Peter has completed numerous policing related academic programs, including certificates from Harvard Law School and McMaster University, as well as attending FBI seminars on numerous topics.

Jack Langhorn served as a police officer in Ontario for 30 years before retiring from active duty in 2015. Throughout his career Jack gained vast and varied experience in policing, investigating a diverse range of cases and reaching the rank of Staff Sergeant, in which he supervised a team with over 30 members. As a supervisor in the Support Services Branch he oversaw collision reconstruction investigations, the emergency response team, and marine and public order units.

John is a retired military policeman with 25 years’ police experience, having worked in multiple roles and eventually becoming a Platoon Sergeant-Major and Warrant Officer. Upon retiring, John opened a private investigation business and later became the Security Manager of St
Joseph’s Healthcare in Hamilton. John has taught at various Ontario colleges, as well as at the Canadian Forces School of Intelligence and Security (now the Canadian Forces Military Police Academy).
John has completed numerous professional training courses with the armed forces and RCMP, as well as courses from Leiden University in The Hague in topics such as Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear Operational Preparedness.

David’s career in law enforcement has spanned 30 years in both the public and private sectors. David spent over a decade in various roles from uniform and plainclothes patrols, criminal investigations, youth crime, and gang investigations, coaching, search and rescue, and public order units.
His experience led him to the private sector, where he worked in security management, large-scale security auditing, international sports venue management and operations, aviation security operations and control, and teaching.
David has successfully completed various courses and certificates from Federal, State, and City US police agencies on street gang investigations, along with Ontario Police College and other college courses on police management and leadership.
