Farhana has extensive experience in supporting students as they learn English and transition their lives to Canada. She holds a master's in international relations from the University of Karachi, a Teaching English as a Second Language (TESL) Ontario diploma from the Canadian College of Educators and is an Ontario Certified English Language Teacher (OCELT). Farhana has been working in this field for the past 12 years, is a Language Instructor for Newcomers to Canada (LINC) at the Centre for Skills Development in Milton and YWCA Etobicoke and is currently enrolled in the LearnIt2Teach Stage 2 course. She is skilled at assisting learners from various backgrounds and nationalities, developing lesson plans and assessment techniques appropriate for each level, and maintains a supportive classroom where students feel comfortable, motivated, and appropriately challenged.

“Be comfortable in your own accent, language and identity. Do not be afraid to speak your mind. Make language learning fun and find opportunities to practice and develop independence.”

Aarti is an ESL and IELTS trainer and TESL certified. With over five years' experience, she has taught at schools and universities both in India and Canada, notably in-person language credit courses at the University of Toronto in 2022-24. Aarti is also certified by IDP, the British Council and the Canadian College of Educators to teach IELTS. As an immigrant herself, she understands firsthand the challenges of crossing languages and cultures. In addition to being a passionate instructor, Aarti also helps newcomers to Canada in their settlement process.
