The Cardiology Technology program has a 2-year EQual™ accreditation. This means that the program meets rigorous national standards and reflects the quality of our program’s development, delivery and practical training. It also shows that the program’s evaluation process results in continuous improvement in quality.
As a Cardiology Technologist, your role will be to assist physicians by using various procedures and equipment to monitor, diagnose and treat heart and blood vessel disorders. Detecting heart disease and other cardiac conditions involves a team of healthcare professionals, of which the Cardiology Technologist is a key player.
You are expected to be dependable, empathetic, a good communicator and be able to think critically on the spot. These qualities will put patients at ease and allow the technologist to accomplish the task as efficiently and effectively as possible. Your responsibilities can range from recording and assessing cardiac activity; providing preliminary reports of tests; and, preparation of reports for the interpretation of the cardiologist.
At Anderson College, students gain practical knowledge in our fully-equipped labs, learn from experienced instructors, and prepare for the Canadian Society of Cardiology Technologists (CSCT) certification exams. The program also includes a 16-week practicum.
As a Cardiology Technologist, students will be able to work in a wide range of facilities such as hospitals, Cardiac Device/Electrophysiology Industry, Cardiac Rehabilitation Centers, Ambulatory Health Care Services, Insurance Companies, Research Facilities and many more!
