It includes the use of computed tomography (CT), interventional radiology (IR), bone densitometry and mammography (breast imaging), among others. MRT professionals operate this state-of-the-art technology to capture images of bones, internal organs, and tissue that assist doctors in the diagnosis and treatment of medical conditions.

How do you train to become an MRT?

There are many medical radiation technologist programs available; you’ll want to select one that offers you the theoretical and hands-on practical training that ensures you are confident and in demand upon graduation.

  • 78 weeks, full-time.
  • Students complete courses in anatomy and pathology, apparatus, and image management, computed tomography, radiation protection, general and specialized radiographic techniques, professional practice, and patient care.
  • You also focus on specialized imaging, clinical integration, quality assurance and control, and professional practice.
  • The program includes three clinical placements where students rotate through general and specialized medical imaging departments, applying what you have learned within these clinical settings.
