You’ve Got This! – Anderson Connect

You’ve Got This! – Anderson Connect

On the way to manifesting our extraordinary dreams, there can often be little time in the juggle and busy of life to consider who we are, what we offer and, rather than work to change, simply celebrate that! Oh, we can give compliments and considerations to the people we care about who surround us, but the person reflected in the mirror certainly needs a little acknowledgement too, to flourish.

As dedicated students, soon-to-be professionals and, many of you, devoted family members, you’ve mastered the art of “getting it done”, but this month’s Connect encourages you to take a moment to reflect. A pause in the bustle to consider how you value yourself and thus stake your claim on what you deserve and communicate that as you pursue the next best version of your amazing life.

We are awed by you and endeavour to support you, not only in your studies, but in your life. In the spirit of “You’ve got this!”, we dedicate this month’s edition to you!

Today’s read is approximately 4 minutes.

Inside this Edition:

  • A Thought to Ponder
  • A Short Story to Inspire
  • A Short Video to Motivate

A Thought to Ponder

“To be yourself in a world that is constantly trying to make you something else is the greatest accomplishment.” — Ralph Waldo Emerson

You want to join the ranks of the successful, to embrace the career that calls to you in which you can make a difference, but in it all remember, no one will ever do what you do the way you do it. Hold fast to the unique and wonderous qualities that you bring to the path of life and dance (even if only in your own living room), knowing you are worthy and inspire others by owning your own brilliant light and shining on.

A Short Story to Inspire

A father said to his daughter, “You have graduated with honours; here is a car I bought many years ago. It is pretty old now, but before I give it to you, take it to the used car lot downtown and tell them you want to sell it and see how much they offer you for it.”

The daughter went to the used car lot, returned to her father, and said, “They offered me $1,000 because they said it looks pretty worn out.”

The father said, “Now, take the car to the pawn shop and see what they say.” The daughter went to the pawn shop, returned to her father, and said, “The pawn shop offered me only $100 because they said it is an old car and needs lots of work.”

The father then asked his daughter to go to a prestigious car club, show them the car and see what they had to say. The daughter did as he asked and returned to tell her father, “Some people in the club offered me $100,000 for it because they said it’s an iconic car and sought by many collectors.”

The father then said to his daughter, “I’ll offer you a little insight if I may. The right place values you the right way. If you are not valued, do not be angry, it means you are simply in the wrong place. Those who know your value are those who appreciate you. Never stay in a place where people cannot see your value.”

The Moral of the Story ~ Know your worth. Seek out those who recognize it too. And never settle for anything less than being in a place that honours you and celebrates you for who you are and what you bring to life.
