Why Study Medicine Abroad After Pre-Med in Canada?

Why Study Medicine Abroad After Pre-Med in Canada?

If your goal is to become a doctor, then you’ve undoubtedly researched your options for studying in Canada and have become all-to aware of the challenges you face. If you’ve found this article, then you’re exploring opportunities to streamline your studies and boost your chances of being accepted into medical school. Great idea!

The facts are that, despite the doctor shortage in Canada, there are only 17 med schools in our country (14 if you want to study in English) and the requirements for med school are rigorous and often mean 3 to 4 years of undergrad studies to ensure you have the courses required for medical school. Even then, only 15% of applicants are accepted first time. And to be eligible for most medical programs, you’re required to write your MCAT and come with glowing letters of recommendation based on hours of volunteer experience – on top of your studies.

There is another way.

Anderson College saw the challenges students were facing and worked diligently toward a viable and rewarding solution. Our direct admissions partnership with St. George’s University, Grenada, enables students enrolled in Anderson’s Pre-Medical program to immediately qualify for St. George’s Medical School. Those accepted are also eligible for a $5000 scholarship and additional financial assistance.

Amazingly, with this solution, you DON’T need to:
× Pass the MCAT exam (Medical College Admission Test)
× Have a 4-year Bachelor of Science Degree
× Have an undergraduate degree
× Write a personal essay or gather letters of recommendation

But Why Is This Option for YOU?

  • It’s a Fast-Track Solution– This leading-edge pre-med program is three-semesters over one year.
  • It comes with Provisional Acceptance to St. George’s University (SGU) – Of course you need to meet admission requirements for Anderson and SGU and maintain a 3.2 or higher GPA in your pre-med courses, but then you have a link to a world-renowned medical school.
