A Thought to Ponder

“What the mind can conceive and believe, and the heart desire, you can achieve.”
― Norman Vincent Peale

To live the life we desire, we must first be able to imagine it, believe we can reach our goals and take that leap of faith to begin. And while joy is often where we want to rest our heads, it is actually the roll-up-your-sleeves work that makes us feel supremely satisfied when we reach our dreams. Know that every ounce of effort you are putting in now, will be worth the feeling of achievement you will come to experience.

A Short Story to Inspire

A gentleman on vacation with his family, took them to an elephant camp one day. As they wandered through the man noticed, to his utter amazement, that the elephants weren’t being kept in cages or held by the use of chains. All that was holding them back from escaping the camp, was a small piece of rope tied to one of their legs.

As the man watched the elephants, he was completely confused, wondering why they didn’t just use their strength to break the rope and escape the camp. They could easily have done so. Curious, he asked a trainer nearby why the elephants were just standing there and didn’t try to escape.

The trainer replied, “When they are very young and much smaller, we use the same sized rope to tie them and, at that age, it’s enough to hold them. As they grow up, they are conditioned to believe they cannot break away. They believe the rope can still hold them, so they never try to break free.”

The only reason that the elephants weren’t breaking free and escaping from the camp was that over time they adopted the belief that it just wasn’t possible.

Moral of the Story
Do not be limited by your conditioning or your thoughts. Know that no matter what obstacles you face, you have the power to choose whether to remain or break free. All that you envision for your life is within reach as soon as you believe that you can indeed achieve it.
