Why I Chose the Personal Support Worker (PSW) Program
Tick-tock, tick-tock…
A warm, welcoming voice resonated in the room, “Hello, good evening PSWs.” As we introduced ourselves, I felt the ticking of a new chapter beginning.
“The desire to rebuild my life in Canada drove me to Anderson, where I chose the Personal Support Worker (PSW) program.”
Returning to school was not a decision made lightly. The desire to rebuild my life in Canada drove me to Anderson, where I chose the Personal Support Worker (PSW) program. It promised not just a career but a fresh start in a land of new opportunities.
As a former senior high school teacher, the transition from leading students to becoming one again was humbling. Yet, I knew this was the path to reinvention. The program did more than I anticipated—it opened doors to possibilities I hadn’t imagined.
How Anderson College Became My Community
“Anderson’s staff, particularly my instructors, were the anchors I needed, guiding me through the challenges of balancing work and study.”
Anderson’s staff, particularly my instructors, were the anchors I needed, guiding me through the challenges of balancing work and study. Far from home, with no close family nearby, Anderson became my community, offering support when I needed it most.
What captivated me most was the hands-on experience during the clinical practicum. It was an immersion into the diverse tapestry of humanity, teaching me more than textbooks ever could. Anderson’s online flexibility allowed me to juggle work and study, a lifeline during demanding times.
How the PSW Program Became My Bridge to a New Life
“Anderson didn’t just provide education—it built a bridge to a thriving career.”
Post-graduation opportunities found me effortlessly, each referral leading to new possibilities. Anderson didn’t just provide education—it built a bridge to a thriving career.
To others embarking on this journey, I offer this: “In every ending, there is a beginning.” Anderson transformed my life, and it can transform yours too.
