Student Fighting COVID-19 – Katerina’s Story

Everything has changed – our priorities, our routines, and the way we live. While COVID-19 has separated us physically, we are more determined to stay connected with you. Whether you are combatting COVID-19 at the front line or from home.

Katerina Z. is a Medical Office Administrator student at the Hamilton campus. Here is her story:

What do you like most about your virtual classes?

Even though we’re apart, I’m enjoying completing the virtual classes online as it’s an easy layout to follow. The workload is easier and it allows flexibility to finish everything on time without feeling overloaded and rushed.

What is your best study tip for online learning?

Always try to understand the learning practices and expectations. Always ask for help when you need it! Take study breaks when you feel overwhelmed. Review your work at least 3 times to make sure it is correctly written. Work with your classmates to help each other to stay motivated.

What is the biggest challenge with online learning?

The biggest challenge is when the internet crashes and everything is slow or lagging. It gets frustrating at times.

Share your favourite moment from your virtual classes

There is a student in my class who always brings her dog come to class which is really nice.

Share a message you would like to pass on to our frontline workers

Firstly, thank you all for your services and trying to keep everyone as healthy as possible, as well as working long hours. When you feel you’re not enough, or when you have to keep away from seeing your families at home, please know we are giving you strength. You are going above and beyond! When you are struggling with stress or anxiety, please know you are doing the best you can do. Thank you!
