Starting a Medical Office Administrator Career in Canada

Starting a Medical Office Administrator Career in Canada

It all started with a visit to Anderson. Read Catherine’s journey, written in her own words.

Medical Office Administrator courseIt was year the 2013 when I tried to apply to come to Canada. I had no luck – for some reason, my application got refused. I had worked in Saudi as a nurse since 2011 and I really wanted to come to Canada to have a better future. One day, my younger sister helped to introduce me to Anderson College.

I collected all the requirements needed from Saudi and went back home to the Philippines. I applied to come to Canada. I wasn’t expecting that the immigration office would approve my application right away, but they did, and I was so happy. I packed all my stuff and flew all the way here. When I arrived at the Pearson airport, I never forgot what my sister told me, “Sister, you can smile now. You’re now in Canada”. It was the month of October and I felt the cool breeze on my face and the happiness in my heart. I told myself “Am I just dreaming”? Why did I say this? Because life in Saudi was very different.

“I met amazing staff at Anderson, wonderful classmates and accommodating teachers who imparted their knowledge to us.”

During the first week of class, I was still jet lagged. I was having a hard time concentrating in class. Canada is a 12-hour difference compared to my country, when it’s morning here – it’s night time there. I met amazing staff at Anderson, wonderful classmates who became my friends, as well as brilliant and accommodating teachers who imparted their knowledge to us.

“Anderson College helped me to be more confident, mold my personality, build a career and reach my goals and dreams.”

Canada is such a beautiful country with beautiful people. I’ve never seen warmer hearted, educated and loving people than here. Anderson College helped me to be more confident, mold my personality, build a career and reach my goals and dreams. Though there were many ups and downs, which were part of the process, I’m now here, living my dreams. I finally got my work permit and soon I will get my permanent residency. It all started with a visit to Anderson College. A school full of opportunities to a dreamer like me. Thank you!
