Staff Fighting COVID-19 – Heather’s Story

Everything has changed – our priorities, our routines, and the way we live. While COVID-19 has separated us physically, we are more determined to stay connected with you. Whether you are combatting COVID-19 at the front line or from home.

Heather Y. from Head Office shared her story with us:

What are your tips for online teaching and/or working from home?

Have a defined work schedule and designated workspace, dress as if you are at the office, remove distractions (good one or bad ones), know that you are supported, and finally, remember to breathe.

Share a fun moment that happened while you have been teaching and/or working from home

My son tried to hug my head when I was in a serious conference call, it was very hard not to laugh. I was thinking to myself: this would never happen if he was at school and I was at work. My dog is having a very confusing time right now, he must be thinking: why are all the humans always at home, every day!

Share a kind message you would like to pass on to our front line workers

Since the lockdown, you have been in my thoughts, constantly. More than ever, we don’t want to take anything for granted – every meal we enjoy, every delivery we receive, every recovery we hear, every picture we see, and even every effortless breath we take, remind us of you – our heroes. We think about the hours your work, the bruises on your face, the quiet streets you cover, and the patients you save. We owe you our health and safety. Thank you, thank you, and thank you!
