Staff Fighting COVID-19 – Aileen’s Story

Staff Fighting COVID-19 – Aileen’s Story

Everything has changed – our priorities, our routines, and the way we live. While COVID-19 has separated us physically, we are more determined to stay connected with you. Whether you are combatting COVID-19 at the front line or from home.

Aileen V. is part of our staff at the North York campus. Here is her story:

What are your tips for online teaching and/or working from home?

  • Check your equipment prior to your lectures, such as your computer and headphones
  • Check you have all the materials you need
  • Be presentable (even though you are at home!)
  • Be creative
  • Deliver lessons gracefully
  • Make classes lively
  • Understand and reply as soon as possible for students who need support.

Share a fun moment that happened while you have been teaching and/or working from home

The fun moments are when you can see how the students help each other so we can all meet our main goal, which is learning. If someone has difficulties with their computer, there is always someone who can help. The students all show they want to learn, and they don’t want to miss anything during classes. My students even ask for permission to have a break during our lessons, so they don’t miss anything!

Share a message you would like to pass on to our students

I’m very thankful and grateful for my class. They show exemplary creativity and they have the best attitude towards this virtual class. They always find ways to understand all the lessons. Please keep it up and you will all succeed!

Share a message you would like to pass on to our frontline workers

Hats off to all of the frontline workers! You are performing heroic acts, not only in this time of crisis but every day. Words are not enough to thank you all.
