Out of the Comfort Zone to Making a Paralegal Difference – Manpreet’s Story

In celebration of our convocation 2023, and the opportunity for us to finally be together and celebrate in person after three years, we asked our graduates to share their Anderson College experience.

Asking, “How has Anderson College changed your life?” prompted over a hundred submissions … this is one of those extraordinary student stories.

We hope this reflection moves you, as it has our Anderson family, and inspires you to ever embrace the career and life you imagine and, truly, deserve.

The primary purpose of going to college is not just to obtain a great job, but to develop a strong mind, which leads to improved self-awareness, capabilities, fulfillment, and opportunities to serve others, and this, incidentally, may also result in a better job. This is how I feel about Anderson College, where I am a paralegal student.

“I chose to pursue a Paralegal diploma at Anderson College because it is a one-year program accredited by the Law Society of Ontario.”

Before enrolling in my program, my personality was entirely different. I lacked self-confidence. I was shy and unsure about how to become successful. Then, I decided to step out of my comfort zone and do something that would make my family and society proud. I chose to pursue a Paralegal diploma at Anderson College because it is a one-year program accredited by the Law Society of Ontario. My application was accepted very quickly, and I received assistance from Ms. Ximena Pagiamtzis throughout the entire admissions process.

“Anderson College has become like a second home to me. The college staff is very welcoming, and the teachers are experienced, well-educated, and incredibly supportive.”

Anderson College has become like a second home to me. The college staff is very welcoming, and the teachers are experienced, well-educated, and incredibly supportive. I would especially like to thank Mr. Brian McNulty and Mr. Ian Bell, who teach not only what is in the books, but also emphasize the overall development of students. They are motivated, always ready to help students, and provide daily feedback on our progress. They also share their life experiences in the legal field, which has inspired me to think differently and given me the confidence to face life’s challenges.

“I feel blessed and privileged for the opportunity to attend Anderson College – choosing to study here has been one of the best decisions of my life!”

I came to Canada in 2016, and now I have a more extensive knowledge of the Canadian legal system. I am aware of my legal rights and how to address legal issues, of which I was unaware for many years. I feel blessed and privileged for the opportunity to attend Anderson College – choosing to study here has been one of the best decisions of my life!
