Is a Dental Assistant Career Right for You?

In celebration of our convocation 2023, and the opportunity for us to finally be together and celebrate in person after three years, we asked our graduates to share their Anderson College experience.

Asking, “How has Anderson College changed your life?” prompted over a hundred submissions … this is one of those extraordinary student stories.

We hope this reflection moves you, as it has our Anderson family, and inspires you to ever embrace the career and life you imagine and, truly, deserve.

How Anderson College Helped Aaisha Launch Her Dental Assistant Career

“Education has no limits!” This is a wise saying I have known since childhood but actually realized, when I came to Canada.

When I moved to Ontario in 2019, I wanted to start working immediately but given my background, I was not sure if I would be successful. By the time COVID hit, there was no way to find a job or career that suited my choices. One day I realized that I should look for some courses that may help me to get the right job.

Why Choose the Intra Oral Dental Assistant Program?

I Googled a few programs, and one was being offered by Anderson College. I clicked on the link which connected me to the admissions office. Megan was kind in helping me to explore all the options and I decided to join the Intra Oral Level I & II Dental Assistant program; luckily it was offered virtually!

What Makes Anderson College Stand Out?

I started my program on July 19, 2021. Our instructors, Manjot and Joanne, were exceptional. They supported us through assignments, presentations, and even virtual celebrations like Halloween and Christmas. Despite having four kids, I still managed to study and pass all the tests with flying colours because our classes were taught so well.

I made some really good friends which I am still in touch with. We discuss our professional issues, seek each other’s support, and share as much information as we can. What we learned at Anderson College was to persevere, be helpful and never give up.

“After completing the courses and placements, we were lucky enough to find jobs very quickly.”

We celebrated Halloween, Christmas, New Year and the year-end party virtually and not once did it ever occur to us that we are online and not enjoying our experiences at Anderson College. After completing the courses and placements, we were lucky enough to find jobs very quickly. Joanne was so supportive and motivated us to challenge the National Dental Assisting Examining Board (NDAEB) exam, which I passed, thanks to the confidence I gained from studying at Anderson.

Thank you to Anderson College, for helping me achieve my goal of completing a college education and helping me to get an extremely respected job, all within one year and at the age of 41!
