Massive Personal Support Worker Shortages = a Career Opportunity to Make a Difference

Massive Personal Support Worker Shortages = a Career Opportunity to Make a Difference

Canada’s population aging and in need, healthcare worker shortages, government’s recognition of the issues and financial commitment to support, and a wage increase to stimulate change – a dire situation that creates incredible opportunity for those looking to making a difference.

If you’ve ever had a calling to provide care to those who require assistance due to aging, disability or illness, there has truly never been a better time to pursue a career as a personal support worker (PSW).

According to Statistics Canada, “seniors could represent between 23% and 25% of the total population in 2036”, and a CBC article reported that, “Ontario is projected to be short 33,000 nurses and personal support workers by 2028”. The government has responded with a 1.7 billion-dollar pledge for a PSW wage increase.
