Why Did Marissa Choose the Personal Support Worker Program?

Having a nursing background from my home country, I immigrated to Canada in pursuit of new horizons. To establish myself in the Canadian healthcare system, I embarked on a Personal Support Worker (PSW) Hybrid program as a first step. I was working as an elderly caregiver at that time, and the challenges of obtaining nursing licensure in Canada, compounded by the COVID-19 pandemic, extended this process.

“I chose to enroll at Anderson College because its PSW program aligns perfectly with my career aspirations.”

I chose to enroll at Anderson College because its PSW program aligns perfectly with my career aspirations, offering the ideal platform to acquire the necessary skills and knowledge, providing a solid foundation for my future as a registered nurse in Canada. I am confident that my experiences as a PSW have prepared me for the rigors of this demanding profession. The empathy, patience, and problem-solving abilities I have developed will be invaluable assets in providing holistic care to elderly patients.

“The skills and knowledge I gained have propelled me into a successful career as a licensed registered nurse in the hospital’s surgical unit today.”

My time at Anderson was truly life changing. Anderson College was more than just a school; it was a place of personal growth. Surrounded by supportive faculty and peers, I developed the confidence and skills I needed. Moreover, I formed lifelong bonds with classmates and mentors who inspired me to reach my goal. In fact, while working on my PSW placement in a retirement home, I received the best news ever—I passed the NCLEX nursing licensure exam.

Thank you, Anderson College. You exceeded my expectations! The skills and knowledge I gained have propelled me into a successful career as a licensed registered nurse in the hospital’s surgical unit today.
