Joseph Finds His Passion as a PSW

As I look back after going to Anderson College (Yonge & Eglinton) to pursue becoming a PSW, I must say I chose well. It was a career change but one that I was passionate about. It is a very well-rounded institution for students just coming out of school or mature students like myself who were getting back into the educational system. It is one where we’re shown and given multiple ways to achieve our goals no matter our personal circumstances.

“From my first day, the staff, management, and overall Anderson College staff body made me feel like my goals could be realized.”

From my first day, the staff, management, and overall Anderson College staff body made me feel like my goals could be realized. The combined approach of online and in-person learning was an asset for those of us who had busy schedules. Additionally, the comprehensiveness of the curriculum was ideal and taught in an engaging way. Subjects like this can sometimes come off heavy and intense, but not this time. It was like ‘the medicine in the candy’ type of situation.

“The combined approach of online and in-person learning was an asset for those of us who had busy schedules.”

My instructor, Ms. Amelia Poquiz, spearheaded my course with patience and an attitude focused on education rather than just making good grades. This has enabled me to be a better PSW to the residents in my care, as you couldn’t want for a better example of a PSW. Even beyond the time spent at Anderson College, Ms. Poquiz made herself available to guide me as I embarked on my job search and encouraged us, her students, to use her as a reference.

Anderson College for the WIN!!! THANK YOU!
