What Inspired Saviour to Pursue a PSW Career?

From a young age, my passion for healthcare was ignited as I cared for my sick grandmother and observed the nurses’ compassionate work. This early experience set me on a path to becoming a Personal Support Worker (PSW). In 2023, I relocated to Canada to pursue this dream but faced significant challenges. I found a job caring for an autistic boy in Brantford but I suffered from abuse and eventually became homeless.

“The College empowered me to believe in myself, overcome challenges, and stay focused on my long-term goal of becoming a PSW.”

How Did Anderson College Help Him Rebuild His Life?

As a single parent, I struggled financially, working long hours without pay in exchange for a place to sleep. Despite these hardships, I remained determined to enroll in college to upgrade my skills and secure a better job. My life truly transformed when I discovered Anderson College.

The College offered him not just education but a supportive community, hands-on PSW training, and mentors who truly cared.

“Anderson College didn’t just change my life—it gave me the confidence and tools to inspire others and pursue my dreams.”

The College empowered me to believe in myself, overcome challenges, and stay focused on my long-term goal of becoming a PSW. After graduation, Anderson College’s job fair led to instant employment with Paramed as a full-time worker and Brantwood Community Services as a part-time worker. Anderson College didn’t just change my life—it gave me the confidence and tools to inspire others and pursue my dreams. For that, I am eternally grateful. This contest award will inspire me for excellence.
