FAQ – Phased Pilot Reopening
Following our announcement on June 10, 2020 regarding the Ontario Government’s plan to reopen postsecondary education, we wanted to provide you with some further information.
While the announcement is positive news, there are still a lot of unanswered questions.
We acknowledge that many of you have children, families, friends and loved ones who you need to look after and keep safe. It is important to note that your return to the campus is not compulsory. This is simply an opportunity for you to complete the next phase of learning if you have completed all the theoretical portions of your program but could not complete practical training that requires in-person delivery.
We look forward to working with you to create a plan as to if and when you will return to the campus starting July. The Anderson College team is here to continue supporting you through every step of the way. At the meantime, please click here for the frequently asked questions.
The seasons of life – a short story
There was a man who had four sons. He wanted his sons to learn to not judge things too quickly. So he sent them each on a quest, in turn, to go and look at a pear tree that was a great distance away.
The first son went in the winter, the second in the spring, the third in summer, and the youngest son in the fall.
When they had all gone and come back, he called them together to describe what they had seen.
The first son said that the tree was ugly, bent, and twisted.
The second son said no – it was covered with green buds and full of promise.
The third son disagreed, he said it was laden with blossoms that smelled so sweet and looked so beautiful, it was the most graceful thing he had ever seen.
The last son disagreed with all of them; he said it was ripe and drooping with fruit, full of life and fulfilment.
The man then explained to his sons that they were all right, because they had each seen but one season in the tree’s life.
He told them that you cannot judge a tree, or a person, by only one season, and that the essence of who they are – and the pleasure, joy, and love that come from that life – can only be measured at the end, when all the seasons are up.
If you give up when it’s winter, you will miss the promise of your spring, the beauty of your summer, fulfilment of your fall.
Don’t judge a life by one difficult season. Don’t let the pain of one season destroy the joy of all the rest.
“There is no getting rid of me!” – a short video
We know the lockdown has been quite a challenge for most of us. Please enjoy this 2-minute video, in the last 10 seconds you will see a 93-year old Scottish lady who said “I am still here. I am like a bad penny, there is no getting rid of me… it (the virus) will all pass…”, hope this warms your heart as it does ours. Please take care of yourself.
Sincerely,
The Anderson College Team
