Fulfilling Her Business Management Dream: Merela’s Story

In celebration of our convocation 2023, and the opportunity for us to finally be together and celebrate in person after three years, we asked our graduates to share their Anderson College experience.

Asking, “How has Anderson College changed your life?” prompted over a hundred submissions … this is one of those extraordinary student stories.

I am an international student from the Philippines, currently taking the Business Management program at Anderson College (Mississauga Campus). When I lived in the Philippines, I knew I wanted to move and have a better life. I decided to move to Canada and gain some education to set myself up for that better life.

I always dreamed of having my own business, however, I have no formal education in business. I did a lot of research on which school I would get the most out of and noticed that Anderson College’s mission, vision and values stood out for me. Once I was granted my Canadian visa, I started my journey at Anderson.

But how did Anderson College really change my life? For me, the fact that Anderson accepted me had a huge impact on my life. It was all a quick process, from planning, and the application, to the approval. I believe it was all meant to come together for me. I am grateful and blessed to have experienced the best service from Anderson College, from the administration to finance department assistance to the industry-expert instructors, teaching us to properly manage a successful career which I can apply to my business in the future, and all the lesson I’ve learnt here. They also offer internships that allow students to experience the work environment and practice what they teach in class.

Anderson College has opened doors to new experiences for me. What I like the most about Anderson is that I can finish my studies in less than a year. Everyone at Anderson College is so considerate and understanding. I am grateful for the help of everyone at Anderson College and my aunt and uncle who have supported me through my entire stay here in Canada.

Learning something new can be a scary experience, but you can be one of the best people in the world at what you do. This is just the beginning but with the help of Anderson College, I believe, my life is going to be beautiful.
