From Kitchen Shifts to Survive to a Med Lab Tech Career – Ly’s Dream

I want to share my story in the hope that it will inspire, motivate, or simply encourage you to make a positive decision in your life. A year ago, my main aspirations were to visit my family in Vietnam annually and eventually buy a small house in Canada to live a peaceful and happy life. However, as a new immigrant working long hours in a kitchen with low pay, those dreams seemed distant and nearly impossible.

Enrolling at Anderson College to train as a Medical Laboratory Assistant/Technician was a spontaneous decision, driven more by uncertainty than confidence. But it didn’t take long for me to realize that I was wrong. As I near the end of the program, I feel like a completely transformed person. This journey has been a profound experience of self-discovery, unveiling new opportunities in a field I had never considered before.

When I reflect on my past experiences, I now see how they have all played a part in guiding me to this moment of success. With the professional training and support from Anderson, I now have a clear vision of where I want to be in a year, and even ten years from now.
