Student Fighting COVID-19 – Walid’s Story

Student Fighting COVID-19 – Walid’s Story

Everything has changed – our priorities, our routines, and the way we live. While COVID-19 has separated us physically, we are more determined to stay connected with you. Whether you are combatting COVID-19 at the front line or from home.

Walid T. is an Intra Oral Dental Assistant Student at the Mississauga campus. Here is his story:

What do you like most about your virtual classes?

The ability to enjoy class using another medium. It’s a different feel compared to being in class, I can comfortably enjoy class in my pajamas. Hopefully, I can do well and pass all my courses.

What is your best study tip for online learning?

Try to work on a table and not your bed, as working from bed can lead you to nap while class is going on. Comfortable clothing is alright, but make sure you’re presentable just in case you have to turn on your webcam. It also wakes you up and you feel more engaged in class.

What is the biggest challenge with online learning?

Probably staying positive as the whole quarantine situation is being updated, going out can be a risk to anyone. Staying at home all the time can lead to being disengaged in class or life in general. It’s very boring going through the same things indoors, I just want to go outside and see my friends.

Share your favourite moment from your virtual classes

Probably hearing someone snoring in class. It really woke everyone up and livened up the atmosphere. I also learned how to use Microsoft Teams, so I’m grateful for this opportunity.

Share a message you would like to pass on to our front line workers

Please take care of yourselves as well! I know you all have to keep working in the midst of the Corona attack, but take your breaks and eat properly! If something were to happen to you or your coworkers, your own family would be hurt the most. So be careful and stay safe! Thank you from my family to you and your family for helping our community.
