Student Fighting COVID-19 – Saira’s Story

Student Fighting COVID-19 – Saira’s Story

Everything has changed – our priorities, our routines and the way we live. While COVID-19 has separated us physically, we are more determined to stay connected with you. Whether you are combatting COVID-19 at the front line or from home.

Saira A. is one of our Intra Oral Dental Assistant students at the Mississauga campus. Here is her story:

What do you like most about your virtual classes?

With virtual classes, I can study from the comfort of my home. Despite having two really naughty kids beside me all the time I am still able to learn easily and quite peacefully. I don’t need to wake up early in the morning to drop my kids to school or day care and then rush to class. I can happily wake up before the class (while still being in PJ’s!) and be ready to attend my lesson. It doesn’t replace the pleasure of having some great instructors and talented fellows around physically, but as long as we are all stuck in this crucial situation I am happy that I am still learning. I am proud of myself that I made the wise decision to join Anderson College and thanks to Anderson college for not making me regret my decision.

What is your best study tip for online learning?

I believe that for online learning you have to be a little more focused, as there are always some glitches with the technology.

What is the biggest challenge with online learning?

I believe that motivation is typically the biggest challenge people face with online learning. They start off extremely enthusiastic, but after a week or two life starts to get in the way and an online course is usually one of the first things to get sidelined. It is important to remember that you are the person in charge of your own success! You need to keep your own motivation clear in your mind so you can keep prioritizing study when your initial enthusiasm subsides.

Share your favourite moment from your virtual classes

I believe a lot of favorite moments are yet to come, as this is just the beginning. Joining the virtual class itself was one of my favorite moments because, with the ongoing COVID-19 situation, I thought there would be a delay in completing my studies. Now that the classes are being done virtually, we have started them on time from our homes. I am happy with the way the college has set up the classes for us, this makes me happy and satisfied to be part of Anderson College.
