Does Distance Matter? …. Read Lata’s Story and Decide!

Does Distance Matter? …. Read Lata’s Story and Decide!

It all started with a visit to Anderson. Read Lata’s journey, written in her own words.

As we grow older, we sometimes forget the small pleasures in life when we are caught in the never-ending race of life (bills and chores). I was looking for a job that I can enjoy and feel satisfied with. As a new Canadian, life can be a little bit challenging as you will need to upgrade your education and skills in order to get a good job. Being at Anderson college has been a roller coaster ride for me! It was a challenging, motivating and yet a very fulfilling journey. The first person I encountered was the admissions advisor, she encouraged me to start my ECA program. Since then, all the faculty and staff I met at the college had been wonderful. The homely and warm atmosphere is very positive. I couldn’t dream to finish my diploma without the cooperation of the college staff.

My story is also a little bit special as I traveled every day from Cambridge to Mississauga (72KM each way) for my classes. People used to sympathize with my commute, but I never regretted it. Learning at Anderson had been a very enriching experience for me. I felt like I was in high school again, it was so much fun.

Studying at Anderson had been a lifetime experience and a very beautiful one. I know most colleges do the same job, but let me tell you something, no one does it like Anderson!

My heartfelt gratitude goes to our teacher – she made us believe in ourselves and gave us the courage to dream big; she instilled in us great confidence and vision so that we can follow our chosen paths; she taught us how to cope with the day to day challenges in real-world situations; she molded us to fit in the requirements in our field; and she made us realize the importance we (as Early Childcare Assistants) hold in our society in order to shape up our future generations.

Our classroom was always like a boiling pot of amazing projects, innovative ideas, success stories and laughter.

Our curriculum is very easy to follow and our placement is a great way to take our learning to the next level. I was very impressed by how our teacher kept in touch with our placement supervisor. There were students from other colleges at the placement site, my placement supervisor commented on how my placement book was much more detailed and subject-oriented in comparison to the others. It is never easy to know what your college offers unless you can compare. Our college is also a very good example of multiculturalism; we learn from each other through the diversity.

Taking the diploma has not only given me a direction to achieve professional goals but also enriched my life in so many ways. I can now look at problems and challenges from a different perspective, the lessons I learned will stay with me for life, and I will pass it on to the next generation.

“…we help each other achieve our goals and we bring out the best in each other, I have got friends for life.”

It will not be justice if I don’t mention the people I have met at Anderson, we have the same struggles and the same dreams, we help each other achieve our goals and we bring out the best in each other, I have got friends for life.

I wish Anderson all the success in changing lives and making dreams come true. Studying at Anderson had been a lifetime experience and a very beautiful one. I know most colleges do the same job, but let me tell you something, no one does it like Anderson!
