In celebration of our convocation 2023, and the opportunity for us to finally be together and celebrate in person after three years, we asked our graduates to share their Anderson College experience.
Asking, “How has Anderson College changed your life?” prompted over a hundred submissions … this is one of those extraordinary student stories.
We hope this reflection moves you, as it has our Anderson family, and inspires you to ever embrace the career and life you imagine and, truly, deserve.

“This program equipped me with the knowledge, skills, and practical experience I needed to excel as a PSW and to pursue further career opportunities in the healthcare sector.”
How Did My Instructors Shape My Personal Support Worker Skills?
During my academic journey at Anderson College, the team was always there to support me in various ways. Our PSW instructor, Rani H, provided me with the necessary resources, guidance, and mentorship that helped me to thrive academically and professionally. Our lab instructor, Gloria Munoz’s encouragement and feedback gave me the confidence I needed to pursue my passion for healthcare, and to push myself to achieve my goals which led me to win the PSW-Hybrid Outstanding Performance in our lab sessions.
My placement coordinator also played a huge role in providing guidance during my placement by addressing most of my concerns and liaising with my placement management when needed; this reassured me that Anderson College is deeply committed to helping its students.
“I am confident with the knowledge and skills I gained from my academic program.”
How Did Anderson College Help Me Find a PSW Job?
After completing my diploma, the career services advisor at the college, Feby Jose, reached out to me regarding job opportunities. Luckily, I was able to secure a job earlier as a PSW in a reputable healthcare institution, but it was comforting to know that the college was looking out for me even after completing my diploma. I am confident with the knowledge and skills I gained from my academic program; I will be able to provide quality care to patients with various medical conditions, including the elderly, the disabled, and those recovering from illnesses or injuries.
My PSW program has prepared me to handle the physical and emotional challenges that come with working in a healthcare setting, and I am able to deliver the kind of compassionate care that my patients need. Moreover, it has opened numerous opportunities for my career advancement in the healthcare sector.
