A Thought to Ponder

“The more you praise and celebrate your life, the more there is in life to celebrate.” ~ Oprah Winfrey

No achievement is too small, to pause and ponder on. Often in life we are so focused on what is next, and next and next, that we miss the opportunity to take a deep breath and acknowledge what is working, what we are doing well, for ourselves, for those we love, for our colleagues, for our dreams. Do your best to see the big picture of your days and stop for even a moment to recognize what you are creating and achieving; this will attract into your life more and more of what you truly desire.

A Short Story to Inspire

In a quiet village nestled between the towering Himalayan mountains, lived a wise master named Tenzin. He was known for his soulful understanding of life’s complexities and ability to teach with simple stories. One autumn afternoon, he gathered his students in the garden, where the trees wore their golden leaves like crowns.

“Master,” a young student named Hiro said, “I feel overwhelmed by my goals. They seem so far away, and I often feel like giving up.”

Tenzin smiled gently. “Come, walk with me.” They strolled through the garden, where colourful leaves danced in the breeze. Suddenly, the master stopped near a small sapling struggling to grow among the fallen leaves.

“Do you see this tree?” Tenzin asked. “It is young and small, yet it pushes through the earth, reaching for the light.”

Hiro nodded, intrigued. “But it’s so little compared to the tall trees around it.”

“True,” Tenzin replied. “But every day, it celebrates its small achievements: a new leaf here, a tiny branch there. It knows that each step, no matter how small, is part of its journey.”

As they continued walking, Tenzin picked up a single golden leaf. “This leaf fell from its branch not in defeat, but as a part of its cycle. It celebrates its time on the tree, knowing it contributed to the beauty of the whole.”

Hiro thought for a moment. “So, you’re saying I should focus on the small things I accomplish every day?”

“Exactly,” Tenzin said, nodding. “When you celebrate each small achievement, you nourish your spirit. Just as the tree becomes stronger, so do you.”

Feeling inspired, Hiro returned to his studies with a new perspective. Each day, he took time to acknowledge his small victories—completing a task, learning a new concept, or simply taking a moment to breathe deeply. Weeks later, as the festival of autumn approached, Hiro approached Tenzin again. “Master, I feel different. I’ve been celebrating my small achievements, and it’s made my goals seem less daunting.”

Tenzin smiled, his eyes twinkling. “And that, dear Hiro, is the true wisdom of life. Recognize the small victories, for they lead to the great ones.”
As the leaves continued to fall, Hiro understood that life’s journey is not just about reaching the destination but savouring each step along the way.

The Moral of the Story: Celebrate your small achievements; they are the stepping stones to greater success and fulfillment.
