If you’re a person who has a knack for seeing how vision and strategy can be delivered to enhance a bottom line, are jazzed by numbers or understand precisely how to take an idea to market and the masses, there’s a specialization for you after business admin college.

Business administration courses online/business studies online or in person will give you a broad range of knowledge and training in best practices across the spectrum of skills you’ll require, from accounting and operations, administration and management to sales and marketing.

Office Administration

As you enter your career, you may want to generalize to get your bearings, network and learn the intricate ropes of business. A role in administration offers the insight and ability for you to contribute to the organizational needs and details of a company and its team.
Your role in a fast-paced environment can span scheduling, processing documents and records, bookkeeping, human resource support or management, input on the operations and support to the various teams up and down the chain who contribute to the company’s success. This can be a long-term career or a leaping off point to other specializations.

Finance and Accounting

If you’ve got a knack for numbers and are intrigued by how to turn planning into profits, then this is the area for you. The foundational support for any mid-to-large company, you will have a direct impact on the accountability and growth of a company. From understanding economics and business principles to project management, you’ll be in for an exciting and ever-evolving career.

Your role can include managing short and long-term projects, identifying projections and building plans, analyzing risk and financial opportunities, investment and reading markets to completely managing a financial portfolio. In addition, you can be responsible for the accounting needs of an organization. While the Business Administration program at Anderson College offers the foundational knowledge in this area, you may choose to focus solely on this career. If so, you can consider our full Accounting and Payroll Administration program and the pathway to obtaining your Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) designation from the National Payroll Institute (NPI), formerly known as the Canadian Payroll Association. *Please note that designation exams fees are included in tuition for this program.

Sales and Marketing

For those with the savvy to see the value in a product or service and able to promote and sell to the masses, this is the specialization for you. From understanding how to sell products to both customers and businesses, to product and service pricing, audience targeting and promotion, a career in this area will have you driving the success of any organization.

Your role can span understanding the intricacies of what your company offers, analyzing consumer behaviour, market research, developing price points, writing sales and marketing pitches, communicating with customers online and in person, advertising, and raising overall brand awareness and driving bottom-line success.

Human Resources

In understanding that a thriving team equals a thriving business, you focus in on developing the people who make up that team. Human resources is a specialization that depends on one’s ability to recruit, retain, train and motivate people to be and do their best.

Your responsibilities in this position cover obtaining skilled talent, interviewing, workplace regulations, understanding and communicating about compensation and benefits, labour and employee relations, analyzing organizational behaviour and conducting performance reviews.

Communications

The foundation of success for all the positions above, is how effectively and comprehensively the various department silos can work together and how all communicate the mission, message, in keeping with the brand of the organization, to the masses. Powerful communication relies on consistency and in this role you will ensure the channels of communication to team members are open and clear, and message delivery to your various audiences are purposeful and powerful enough to drive action.

Your role can include target audience analysis and understanding, message and communication materials development in general and for the sales, marketing, human resource and management teams, creating and delivering presentations and ensuring consistency of messaging across the board.

How long does it take to complete a program at Anderson College?
Most diploma programs run 24–58 weeks of full-time study, depending on the discipline. Healthcare programs (PSW, Cardiology, MOA, Dental Assistant) typically include a clinical or work placement so you graduate job-ready.
What financial aid options are available?
