Canada’s Healthcare Industry Needs You – Job Opportunities Await!

As the baby-boomer generation ages and the elderly population grows, seniors are expected to make up almost 25% of the Canadian population by 2030. This, coupled with the aftermath of the pressure the pandemic has put on the system, has led to an exponential increase in demand for the services of healthcare workers across the country.

According to Statistics Canada, job vacancies in healthcare are at a record high. The industry is in dire need of qualified, passionate candidates and this paves a direct path for those seeking to explore or expand their career in healthcare.

At Anderson College our Healthcare and Wellness programs prepare students to take on rewarding and lucrative jobs in the industry, such as, doctor and dental assistants, laboratory technicians, medical office administrators, personal support workers, pharmacy technicians, physical therapist technicians and cardiology technicians.

This rewarding field offers careers for all types of individuals – for those looking to contribute hands-on, helping others or supporting behind the scenes via technology or organizational systems.

Hands-On Career

The best way to describe a career in health and wellness is to say that it is hands-on, with healthcare professionals providing direct patient care, operating equipment, running tests, and performing a variety of duties to support patients. Being hands-on means being in the thick of important work, helping people to heal or remain healthy and vibrant.

Helping Other

A career in health and wellness also means that you spend the majority of your time supporting people, and making a positive difference in their lives. Helping others can come in the form of offering companionship and care to those who are ill or elderly or who have a disability, or other physical or cognitive issues. It is hard to imagine anything more satisfying than knowing you have assisted someone in bettering their health or getting back on their feet. If you love helping others, then a career in healthcare – where you are directly impacting people’s lives every single day – may be the right choice for you.

Tech-Savvy

There is no question that the digital revolution has also touched the healthcare industry and that means that those interested in technology have an opportunity to thrive. Using mobile communications and computing devices, healthcare professionals can access patients’ electronic health records, access test results, and review drug databases, all without paperwork. This means that healthcare workers can spend more time interacting with patients, make fewer errors, reduce costs, and improve care.

With the active ageing industry expected to triple to almost $30 billion in the next three years, and with wellness and fitness technologies for seniors projected to reach $900 million by 2022, there is no question that the growing number of healthcare professionals will benefit from technology.

Now more than ever Canada needs healthcare professionals; it needs you. And there are plenty of job openings available.
