5 Career Benefits of Cisco & Red Hat Training for IT Professionals

As digital technology evolves, it becomes integral in new ways to communications, security, and business operations. That’s great news for the IT job market, but it makes it difficult to choose an entry point for launching your career or updating your existing skills.

The IT program in Cisco and Red Hat Engineering at Anderson College is an excellent starting point. True, becoming Cisco and Red Hat certified equips you with cutting-edge technical expertise and demonstrates that you’re willing to invest in yourself, but there are also other powerful advantages.

Here are the top 5:

Competitive Edge

Whether you’re just starting out in IT or updating your skills through additional IT training courses, your objective is to get hired and stay employed. Having highly valued certifications on your resume, such as Cisco’s CCNA certification and Red Hat’s RHCSA certification, makes you more marketable. Today, more than 70% of hiring managers look for certifications to prove candidates have the right knowledge and skills. Having credentials in Red Hat and Cisco technology gives you that competitive advantage.

Professional Credibility

Earning key certifications increases your professional credibility and identifies you as an expert in a vendor’s product. Taking Cisco courses and mastering its network infrastructure is something to be proud of and shows your motivation, focus and professional dedication to colleagues and managers. In fact, many employers encourage their IT personnel to earn advanced certifications from specific vendors like Cisco and Red Hat, and reward these efforts with promotions and pay raises.

Peer Support and Networking

Getting certified grants you immediate access to a group of IT peers worldwide. IT professionals in Cisco courses, for instance, gain access to The Cisco Learning Network, a career development community that helps its members reach their immediate goal of Cisco certification through study groups, training materials, and exam preparation. Getting connected to a peer network is important for career advancement down the line, too, as contacts can help with job recommendations, professional references, and sharing new technical knowledge and resources.

Staying Up To Date

Getting certified in a newly emerging or rapidly evolving technology is a great way to stand out in the IT industry. When you get in on the ground floor, your knowledge is not only current, it’s often ahead of the curve. This is especially true in networking careers. Enrolling in IT networking courses and earning Cisco and Red Hat certifications show future employers you have the right foundations to build upon as infrastructure, architecture and protocols evolve.

Certification programs are also designed to keep your qualifications up-to-date by requiring recertification exams. With retraining, your skills stay indispensable to the industry and you stay interested and engaged.
