How Did the PSW Course Help Augustin Rebuild His Life?

I endured unimaginable hardships in a refugee camp in Rwanda, where survival was a daily struggle for 27 years. My parents fled to the camp when I was just a year and a half old, and they raised me with my brothers and sisters in those harsh conditions.

The camp’s harsh conditions, scarcity of resources, and trauma of displacement left an indelible mark on my life. However, my journey took a transformative turn when I arrived in Canada and discovered Anderson College’s Personal Support Worker (PSW) program at their Mississauga campus.

With determination and resilience, I embarked on this new path, and the PSW course became a beacon of hope. The program’s comprehensive curriculum, supportive instructors, and hands-on training empowered me to acquire skills and confidence. For the first time in my life, I felt a sense of purpose and belonging.

“I am now a contributing member of society, and I owe it to Anderson College’s PSW program for bridging my past and present, paving the way for a brighter future.”

Where Is Augustin Now in His PSW Career?

Upon completing the course, I secured my first job, so now you can call me an employee at Extendicare Burloak LTC, a milestone that marked a new chapter in my life.

The experience and knowledge gained through Anderson College, and the kind recognition of my lovely instructor Mrs. Rani, have enabled me to support individuals, mirroring the care and compassion I longed for during my time in the refugee camp.

This opportunity has not only changed my life but also instilled a sense of pride and fulfillment. I am now a contributing member of society, and I owe it to Anderson College’s PSW program for bridging my past and present, paving the way for a brighter future.
