A Thought to Ponder
“Character is the ability to carry out a good resolution long after the excitement of the moment has passed.” ~ Cavett Robert

A Short Story to Inspire
The Fable of the Raindrop
Once upon a time, in a cloud high up in the sky, there was a little raindrop named Ria. She had never fallen to Earth before, and as she looked far below, she was both filled with a thrill and afraid.
“I’m just one tiny drop,” Ria whispered to herself, looking down at the ground. “What difference could I possibly make?”
As the wind gently pushed her out of the cloud, the wind carried her down, and she felt her heart race. The air grew colder, and she braced herself for the moment she’d touch the ground.
“Oh, I don’t know that I’m ready for this,” Ria thought.
But suddenly, she landed with a soft plop into a puddle on the ground. A group of children playing nearby rushed over, and began splashing and laughing, sending Ria bouncing.
“This is so fun!” one little boy shouted, stomping his feet, sending water flying. Ria couldn’t help but giggle.
“I might be just one drop but look at the joy I’m creating,” she thought, feeling a little braver.
Ria began to slowly sink into the ground and was drawn up through the roots of a brilliant flower and up and out to rest on its bright blue petals.
“I never realized little me could feed and add to the beauty of a flower.” She heard the flower cheering its “Thank you” as she suddenly spilled off the edge and found herself riding a bubbling brook to the sea.
“Wow,” Ria whispered. The vast ocean stretched out before her, endless and wondrous. “This is where I’ve been headed all along.”
As she bobbed on the surface, she felt the sun’s last rays carry her up, up, up, as she evaporated back up into the sky. She felt light and wildly free.
“I’ve come full circle,” she thought. “I went from a tiny drop, unsure of myself, to being part of something so much bigger.”
As she floated, she realized something incredible.
“I may have been just one drop, but I was always part of the ocean. In every drop, there’s a whole ocean. And in that ocean, there’s me.”
With a twinkle in her spirit, Ria joined the other clouds once more, ready for her next adventure.
Moral of the Story:
Every one of us has a wonderful role to play in life and in the lives of others. We must be brave enough to leap, to launch into new adventures. And we are enriched by seeing the majesty along the way.
A Takeaway for You:
As you launch into the new year, we invite you to reflect upon those who make a difference in your own life. Your expression of gratitude with a kind gesture, note of appreciation or quality connection, will undoubtedly impact your relationships and brighten 2025 for yourself and all those around you.
